Facials!
We have all probably heard that facials are important...but many of us have never been told WHY. Allow me to shed some light on this topic!!!
First of all, let's talk about the components that make up a good facial. Number one is good product. Pure White uses Sea Vital products during facials. They are products from the Dead Sea. They have an advanced liposome complex, which means they absorb through your skin right into your blood stream, literally renewing your skin from the INSIDE, OUT. This can not be said of many skin care lines, and is a part of what makes Sea Vital an AMAZING product, that I personally use every day!
The second component of a good facial is EXTRACTIONS! Though this is not the most comforting part of a facial, I believe that paired with good skin care, this is the MOST important part. Extractions begin with either hot towel compresses, which we do at Pure White, or steam from a steamer machine. The intention of both of these methods is to soften your skin and pores, and prepare them for extractions. Once the skin is softened, we gently squeeze the pores to remove dirt and built up oils and bacteria (aka. blackheads and whiteheads). Extractions are essential to a good facial, as this is what will give you noticeable results and improve the condition of your skin.
Important Note: extractions must be done properly by your esthetician, as improper extractions can cause scarring and can lead to open sores and infection. Ask us about proper removal of blackheads and whiteheads before you do it at home yourself!!!
A facial wouldn't be a facial without a nice relaxing facial massage! This allows for lymphatic drainage, and leaves you feeling relaxed and calmed.
Masks, scrubs, serums, and creams are also applied to add to the rejuvenation of your skin, and will vary depending on your skin's needs.
Lastly, how often should you go for a facial??? I tell my clients to come once every season (4 times per year) if you have balanced skin, or have minimum struggle with blemishes. Each season is different, and effects the skin differently. If you struggle with acne, it may be recommended you come a little more often. During your facial, you can discuss with your esthetician when to come back next, and it may be recommended that you come back for mini facials every 4-6 weeks to start. These mini facials would be focused around cleaning out the pores, to continue the process of healing and diminishing the acne! And YES, acne can be treated and controlled. And YES I have treated it before, and LOVE the challenge and the results :)
I hope this gives you some insight into facials-REMEMBER, when booking a facial, make sure to ask if they do extractions!

3rd Topic for Brides and Grads- Makeup!!!
As you may already know, makeup is a critical part of your overall look as a Bride or a Graduate. I don't think you need to feel hidden under a layer of makeup, but we must keep in mind that you want your makeup to show up in pictures. If you are not wearing much makeup, it will be difficult for the camera to pick up on it.
As a Bride or a Grad, I strongly suggest that you get a makeup trial before your big day. This will ensure that you are on the same page as your makeup artist, and will also ensure that you will be getting the look you have been wanting. Don't be afraid to take advice from your makeup artist, often we REALLY do know what we are talking about.
Even if you never wear makeup, don't be shy to call for a makeup trial. I LOVE surprising non-makeup wearers with a look that even they will love! Don't be afraid of foundation or a bit of mascara, they WON'T hurt you-and they are a subtle way of giving you a bit of beautiful drama!
Sometimes I caution my clients from finding pictures of peoples' makeup in magazines. While the look can be nice, it may not always look as good on you-different face shapes, coloring, etc. If you are a die-hard magazine clipper, just make sure you have a realistic expectation, and be willing to tweak the look, to better suit you!
False lashes are also a great way to add some drama. They open up the eye, and depending on the type of lash as well as the application, they can even look natural! It will cost a bit extra, but well worth it!
Lastly, at Pure White, one of my FAVORITE services to offer my brides and grads is makeup on-the-go. This means packing up my makeup kit, and doing makeup in the comfort of your own home! The more the merrier-the Bride, bridesmaids, mothers, daughters, graduate, friends, etc. This will ensure a calm and relaxing morning-I LOVED the fact that I got to spend the morning getting ready with my bridal party, and I know you will too! *A minimum of 4 people is required*
Well, that pretty much sums it up...get ready to start booking your makeup appointments! Give Pure White a call at 289-1650.

Happy Planning!!!

Grads and Brides *Nail Care*
Our Next topic- Nail Care!!!
Goodbye LONG French Gel nails- Hello short, colored nails!
Don’t get me wrong, a French Gel is always classy and beautiful, but your options have opened up a lot in the past couple of years! From colored gel, to Shellac, we are seeing the options open up for your nails on your special day.
Gel- If you are a dye-hard gel wearer, don’t switch right before your event. Gel looks amazing, and lasts a good 3 weeks on average. There are beautiful choices of colors and classy nail art, to spice up your gels!
*Note that it is not the best to get gels just for ONE occasion or day. Have you ever heard the long time rumor that “gels ruin your nails”??? MYTH!!!! Guess what ruins your nails- Picking off the gel after you decide you don’t want it any more! Ladies!!! It is your duty to get your gel professionally removed, just as you had them professionally applied! DO NOT pick off your gel-that’s what will cause damage to your nails…Your Esthetician or Nail Tech will gently file off the bulk of the gel, and give you a nice manicure while it naturally grows out! Myth BUSTED!!!!
Shellac-This product is wonderful for people who don’t normally wear gels. It is just about as quick as a regular manicure, and it lasts 2 good weeks. And the best part is, you can go back to your salon, and have them removed in 15 minutes-no product remains or damage to the nail! Shellac comes in wonderful colors, and DON’T PANIC, you CAN get a French Shellac Manicure!
*Note that Shellac is also AMAZING for pedicures- NO dry time, put your shoes right on after your pedicure, and be sure that you will experience NO smudging or clumping, wear stilettos out of your appointment , I DARE YOU … Hooray!!!!!!
If you are in a Bridal Party, Call Pure White about Manicure and Pedicure Parties- They are so much fun, and can even be done in the comfort of your own home!!!
Stay tuned for our next topic…MY FAVORITE- Makeup!!!

A New Year-Grads and Brides, it's GO time! *Skin Care*
Happy 2012 Everyone!!!
Though it seems crazy, it's time to start thinking about Grad and Wedding Season!!!! Here are some great tips to get you through the next 6 months...
Skin Care:
It is a great idea to get a facial once every season. Schedule a facial 3 weeks before your event, and for optimal skin health, schedule one 4 months before the event as well. This will clean out the pores and will ensure your skin looks fresh and clean for your big day!
*Note that it is important to use good skin care in between facials, to maintain the health and condition of the skin!!! I recommend Sea Vital, and you can find this great skin care at Pure White! One thing I stand by is that I would never recommend something I don't fully believe in-I use this skin care, I love it, and this stuff works!!! Give me a call for more info and for the latest skin care promotions...
Stay tuned for my next Grad/Wedding blog- Topic: Nail Care!!!
All the best and Happy New Year!!!
